Benefits of using window blinds

In order to further beautify their offices or homes, people add window blinds. You may ask why these are preferred over curtains. The answer lies in the benefits that come with window blind viz a viz the function they perform. There are several disadvantages that came with curtains, and the window blind is there to offer advantages to these disadvantages. If perhaps you have been using curtains for your windows before, you should consider replacing them with blinds when next you want to replace them. Some people in order to undermine the so great benefits of blinds capitalise on the fact that it is more expensive than curtains. However, when you have something that is of great value, you put a commensurate price tag on it. This is simply why blinds are slightly expensive than curtains. The benefits of blinds will be discussed below.
Benefits of window blindsover curtains
1.       Energy saving ability: Curtains are unable to trap air the way blinds trap air. This is worse especially if the curtain is made from materials that have poor insulating characteristics. As a homeowner or a resident dweller in a rented apartment, if you use curtains, you will feel the full scorch of the sun during summer, and the cold wind during the winter. However, when you use a blind you do not have to worry about getting a heater during the winter. The blinds have the ability to trap air, thereby, keeping the internal environment of your home warm. The cold air responsible for cold is denser than warm or hot air. Due to their dense nature, they are easily trapped by the window blinds. The hot air is left to fill the whole house, thereby, warming the room. The cold air is trapped in the blind, and cannot permeate to absorb the thermal energy of the warm air, which in turn will bring down the room’s temperature. The bling prevents that from happening. Curtains do not offer this advantage.
2.       Privacy and Light intensity control: You can use blinds to prevent outsiders from viewing inside your home. Curtains also provide this benefit, but it cannot be compared to that of blinds. Blinds are completely opaque whereas curtains are not over prolonged use. When curtains are exposed to sunlight for a long period of time the material loses its integrity. When this happens, the curtain cannot absorb the spectrum of light that falls on it, therefore, the whole room will be flooded with light. This does not happen with blinds. The name speaks volume about its role. It is completely opaque, and due to this, light cannot penetrate. This quality remains irrespective of the years of usage.
3.       Ease of cleaning: When cleaning curtains, you would have to bring down the whole curtain from the rail before cleaning. When you use blinds, you do not have to do this. You can remove the sediment of dust from it or use a wet napkin to remove some spot stains.
