A representation of melanoma staging

Melanoma is a serious form of skin cancer occurring in the melanocytes. The melanocytes are the cells responsible for imparting color of the skin. When these cells are damaged and the tumor starts building up, it leads to the formation of cancer. There are mainly three types of melanoma which are known as the Cutaneous, Mucosal and Ocular Melanoma. Each of the melanoma can be further sub-classified into Superficial spreading melanoma, Nodular melanoma, Acral lentiginous melanoma, Desmoplastic melanoma, and Lentigo melanoma. Now, experts believe that the cause of the melanoma staging can vary but are correlated with significant exposure to UV rays which damage the cells. There are different stages of melanoma as well which we will discuss in the section below.
The primary Stage
There are different stages of melanoma which has been categorized. The stage 1 melanoma is the early stage melanoma which is the localized version of the tumor. This stage is further divided into two phase 1a and 1b. In this stage, the tumor is localized and does not spread. The patients, if diagnosed in this stage, are at minimal risk and conclusive treatment can help the patient to survive.
